Adecco Welcomes Gene Crowe as New Managing Director Defence Force Recruiting

Adecco Australia has appointed Gene Crowe as the new Managing Director of Defence Force Recruiting, effective today.

The Defence Force Recruiting Contract is the single largest outsourcing contract in the Southern Hemisphere and is worth around 1.2 billion over a 6-year period. Adecco was chosen as the preferred delivery partner in February 2022.

Gene has a wealth of experience in both leadership and recruitment and is well positioned to lead Defence Force Recruiting at a time when workforce demand and capability for the ADF is growing.

Adecco Australia New Zealand Senior Vice President and Country President, Nicholas Lee welcomed the appointment of Gene and acknowledged his suitability to lead the project.

“Adecco’s solution focuses on prioritising an excellent candidate experience and maximising candidate engagement with the intent to reduce attrition throughout the recruitment process.” “Gene’s understanding of complex recruitment environments means he is well suited to lead the team to a successful transformation of ADF recruitment.”

He also thanked and recognised the milestones achieved by Acting Manager Director Simon Ottaviano who has led the team since December.

“We are very thankful to Simon Ottaviano for stepping up into the leadership role over the past six months and are grateful he will be resuming his position as Deputy Managing Director DFR.

“Simon has demonstrated remarkable leadership and accomplished a great deal in a short amount of time while at the helm of DFR.”

Gene said he would continue to build upon the work achieved by the team to date and focus on ensuring a smooth transition and successful transformation.

“I’m really looking forward to joining DFR and collaborating with our partners to help bring the solution to life.

“Adecco has developed a recruiting solution that modernises the ADF Recruiting System and supports the velocity and candidate experience to meet emerging workforce demands and strengthen people capability.

“I’m excited to lead a team of committed people who are on the path towards a successful transformation of recruitment for the Australian Defence Force.”
