Virtual Job Tips – Part 2: 3 Job Searching Techniques Recommended by Recruiters

Looking for work virtually during a pandemic is no easy task, but there are a few ways of making things easier. We rounded up our top three techniques that will make your employment search more efficient and increase your chances of finding your ideal job.

Check Out Job Fairs

Virtual job fairs are an effective way of connecting with recruiters and employers in your area. The great thing about job fairs is that they’re full of employers that are actively looking to fill many positions at their organisation. By checking out what companies are participating, you’ll be able to do a little background research on them to align yourself with what they’re looking for, make a good impression from the start, and know if they’re the right fit for you.

Remember, while virtual job fairs are done virtually through video, present yourself in a professional way as if it were a presential job fair. That means no attending virtual events in your pyjamas!

Use LinkedIn

LinkedIn is your best friend when it comes to job searching online, making it easy to network with professionals and recruiters from your industry. Join groups, post valuable content, and ask questions to start meeting decision-makers from your industry that could be looking for someone just like you at their company.

You can also use LinkedIn to research which companies are hiring in your area and what positions they’re hiring for. If you want to go the extra mile and stand out against other applicants, investigate the latest news from their company LinkedIn page so that you can tailor your resume and ace your interview.

Try A Recruitment Agency

Looking for work through a recruitment agency can make job searching less time-consuming and much more effective. Companies pay recruiters to look for candidates, so agencies are up to date on all the latest vacancies in your area and for your skillset.

Recruiting agencies also have access to temporary positions, seasonal work, and specialised positions that might be harder to come by on job boards and internet databases. Although a recruitment agency can be a big helping hand in your job search, don’t stop being proactive with networking and searching on your own!

Follow these steps and your job search will be a lot easier and more effective!
